about

Produced by Philip Beard in a bedroom in his apartment in East Lansing during the winter of 2011. Released January 2012.

lyrics

Like the assassination of the archduke Ferdinand
I deem your death as where my war began
It took one car crash for me to disappear
They tried to make me listen, I'd only hear
I lost my face in a phase
Caught a case of the crazies
Dealt with death many ways
Smoked my memories hazy
Now I stand at your grave in shame
Looking for somewhere to bury the blame
I have forgotten what I purposed to be
I know for certain that the old me would hate the new me

Is there anybody from my past
Who can help me get back on track?
Is there any soul safe in this rotting town
Or are we all doomed to go down?

Bruises and cuts paint my skin and I grin
When you aim to self destruct you can’t win
Don’t eat right, don’t sleep at night
Find myself taking a punch in another drunken fight
The blood is warm
The beer is cold
I’ve got my hands full
But nothing and no one to hold
When I connect with the concrete I stay on my back
Hoping the moonlight will cut me some slack
Don’t want to know how I’ll feel in the morning
I ought to take the pain as a warning

Pass me the lighter, pass me the bottle
I’m getting out of my mind at full throttle
Don’t mind the voice in the back of my head
Asking if I’m determined to end up dead
What’s done is done
My day will come
No rush to get there
Only to get out of here
Stuck in a small town in a big world with big hopes
Climbing up the ladder but cutting my own ropes
How many mornings waking up on the floor
Before I decide that I want more?

When will the last tear fall
Will I ever lose them all
When will I raise my head
There’s life to live before my death bed
